Prayer Practices for Daily Life & Compline
“Prayer doesn’t change God, it changes me.” C.S. Lewis
Each Wednesday this Lent, we’ll be guided to experience a different prayer practice, in hopes of enlarging and enlivening our prayer lives. Our first week, we’ll try Lectio Divina.
Week #1 2/24 Lectio Divina Sister Jackie, an experienced spiritual director, will guide us in Lectio Divina.
Lectio Divina is a contemplative way of reading the Bible.
It dates back to the early centuries of the Christian Church and was established as a monastic practice by Benedict in the 6th century. It is a way of praying the scriptures that leads us deeper into God’s word. We slow down. We read a short passage more than once. We chew it over slowly and carefully. We savour it. Scripture begins to speak to us in a new way. It speaks to us personally, and aids that union we have with God through Christ who is himself the Living Word.

Winter Car Communion at Church of the Advent
Since our "Car Communion Service" was so successful for Christmas, we will continue to offer it at 9 a.m. each Sunday this winter thru 2/28/21 (weather permitting). There are 85 parking spots available for each service. Please follow the sign-up by clicking HERE and follow the instructions below.
Sign-up for ONE of the parking spots (one spot = one car) on each of the Sundays you would like to attend.
Once you have signed up for a parking spot, you will be asked how many people will be in your car.
Let us know how many people will be in your car so that we can make sure we have enough Communion wafers for everyone.
As always ~ wear a mask, use hand sanitizer and wash your hands frequently! Whether you attend services in your car or at home viewing the recorded services, we wish you a happy and very healthy 2021!
