All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

Advent offers opportunities for life-long growth in the knowledge and love of God to all. From our Godly Play program for our youngest parishioners to weekly adult Bible study, Advent offers a variety of programs for seekers of all ages and stages in one’s spiritual journey. Children & Youth Programming Fall 2021 (all ages welcome!)
Each Sunday, we'll be offering programing for our children and youth although it may look a little different than normal. Some Sundays we'll have traditional Sunday School with a Bible Lesson, some we'll have the kids do a service project (Giving Back Sundays), and some we'll host a Stay & Play Sunday where we would like kids to all sit together for the 9 am service and stay for fellowship after (outside or in the Youth Room depending on weather).
Please CLICK HERE for the Fall 2021 Calendar which gives you an idea of what we'll be doing each week.
All activities will run from 9:30 - 10:15 am unless otherwise noted.
We know that families are very busy so we hope you will join us on the Sundays that fit your schedule. There is no homework or prep needed! We would appreciate it if you register your children so that we have emergency contact information for everyone. Please CLICK HERE to register.
3rd grade – 6th grade: Bible Study and Fellowship
3-6th Grade Sunday School: This great group of kids meets once a month LIVE in Fellowship Hall from 10-11am. Our goal is for the kids to come, connect with their church friends, have lots of fun, and spend some time learning about how much God loves them. Questions to Michele Pepe 302-373-4778, [email protected]
6th grade – 12th grade: God, Church & Me
Youth are growing up in challenging times. They are ready to start developing a more mature faith that will sustain and guide them through the teen years and into adulthood. This program not only prepares youth for confirmation, but also equips youth for a faithful adult life.
Meet & Potatoes
Hi Advent families,
Are you and your family looking for a fun, family way to "give back" during this month of Thanksgiving? Consider decorating some paper bags for Meet and Potatoes. This is a do-it-yourselves project that kids love. It also helps us get our bags ready for potato packing on December 5 2021. We need 600 bags ready to go!
Follow these easy steps:
Go to the St Elizabeth room at Advent. On the table, you will see plain bags, some stickers, markers, and a sign-out sheet. Take as many bags and stickers as you’d like.
Fill out the sign-out sheet so we know how many people have taken bags.
Decorate only one side of the bags and leave a 1-2” space clear at top for folding and hold punching. Decorate using whatever you’d like - crayons, markers, stickers, etc.
Return to the St Elizabeth room by Wednesday, December 1.
Then join us on Sunday, December 5, between 9:30-10:30am for Meet and Potatoes.
Please feel free to pass this along to anyone you know who might enjoy this kind of family project.
Virtual & In Person Adult Education and Spiritual Growth
Advent offers a variety of learning opportunities for adults. Wherever you are on your spiritual journey, Advent supports you and welcomes your participation in any of our adult education offerings. You are welcome to join our weekly Bible study, our monthly On Being discussion group, or any of our occasional programs.
Second Sunday of each month
Join the "On Being" Discussion Group to talk about issues raised by "On Being" interviews that feature deep and thoughtful discussions with contemporary thinkers. Jay Hummel leads this group which meets on the second Sunday of the month. E-mail Jay if you would like to receive his e-mails about the next "On Being" discussion topic and the Zoom meeting login information. [email protected]
Wednesdays 10am – 11:30am
We are currently reading the introduction to “The Nag Hammadi Scriptures.” This serves as an introduction to the many early Christian writings discovered in the past two hundred years and now being studied to learn what they can teach about the early Christian movement(s).
Envisioning Advent’s Future Together
Imagining Advent’s Future: Book Discussion Continues December 5th and 7th
Join us as we continue our conversation on The Post-Quarantine Church by Thom S. Rainer.
This month’s discussion will cover Challenge 3: Reconnect with the Community Near Your Church and Challenge 4: Take Prayer to a New and Powerful Level.
Even if you missed the first session last month, or even if you haven’t read the book, you will easily participate in this discussion. Your input is important as we enter a new, transformative year at Advent.
